Preeminent Appellate Lawyers Serving Tustin & Orange County for 30+ Years

At John L. Dodd and Associates Prof Corp, we provide professional, appellate-level advocacy for clients in Tustin and throughout Orange County. Since 1989, we have handled more than 1,200 appellate matters. Our attorneys do not handle trial court matters or appeals in administrative proceedings.

We primarily concentrate on appeals originating from Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties. However, we have filed appellate briefs in every District of the California Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court. Our attorneys also have filed appellate briefs in the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

Types of Appeal Cases We Handle

At John L. Dodd and Associates Prof Corp, we provide representation for clients who either wish to challenge an unfavorable decision in a lower court or must now defend themselves against another party’s appeal. If you are considering appealing a negative decision, we strongly suggest that you schedule a 30-minute case evaluation over the phone and speak with one of our Tustin appellate lawyers as soon as possible. After the short telephone conference and a more in-depth evaluation, we are prepared to provide you with an honest take on your chances of success and advise you concerning your potential appeal.

What Sets Us Apart From Other Orange County Law Firms?

In addition to having more than 30 years of experience in appellate advocacy, our team genuinely cares about each client and are known for our people-centered approach to providing legal service. We never delegate important aspects of your case to secretaries or law clerks; rather, the entirety of your case will be handled by an experienced attorney.

The Benefits of Working With an Appellate Specialist

In California, being an appellate specialist means more than just handling a few appeals or occasionally doing appellate work. Rather, appellate specialists are required by law to pass a rigorous exam. Appellate specialists are also required to have extensive experience in appeals and obtain positive evaluations from judges and other attorneys who can attest to the quality of their work. In short, establishing oneself as an appellate specialist demonstrates a wealth of experience, great insight, and a firm commitment to excellence, all of which will directly enhance your chance of success in the appellate matter at hand.

John L. Dodd and Associates Prof Corp is here to serve you. Call (714) 880-8744 or contact us online to learn more about our appellate legal services in Tustin.

Types of Appeals We Do Not Handle

There are many other types of “appeals” involving legal issues which are not the type of “appeals” we handle. These would include small claims appeals, which are a new trial before a Superior Court judge. We also do not handle administrative appeals, such as those involving:

  • Social security or unemployment benefits
  • Taxes
  • The Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Educational accommodations

These administrative appeals often take place in the office of the agency, not a courtroom. For these matters, it is best the client seek out qualified attorneys with experience in these areas. Many state, county and local governmental agencies and licensing bodies also have their own “appeal” procedures.

Our firm does not represent citizens in these matters until the proceeding leaves the administrative review process and then goes to the Superior Court or California Court of Appeal. Again, usually you can find a qualified trial attorney experienced in these areas to represent you.
